Inspection course operation procedures and precautions

At this block, an exhaust emission inspection will be carried out to measure the concentration of carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrocarbons (HC) in the exhaust gas emitted by your vehicle.

Exhaust emission inspection will not be carried out on diesel vehicles.

Follow the directions given by the display or the inspector during the inspection.
With the engine turned on, change the gear into "neutral" or "P"-range and pull on the parking brake.
Get off from the vehicle and insert the measurement probe (a metal inspection sensor attached to the measuring equipment with a hose) into the exhaust-pipe.

Do not start the engine or accelerate when the exhaust-gas measurement probe is inserted in the exhaust-pipe.

When the results are shown on the display, return the probe to its original position.

Insert the inspection result slip into the recorder to record the results.
Do not bend or fold the inspection result slip, and be sure to insert it in the right direction as indicated by the arrow.

When the recording is finished, get back onto your vehicle and proceed slowly as directed by the display.
