Process of Renewal Inspection

There are several ways to receive Renewal Inspection. Users may choose to delegate the checks and maintenance and inspection procedures to a maintenance garage, or carry out the procedures on their own.

Process of Renewal Inspection

User "Sha-ken" (Renewal Inspection applied for by users themselves)

The user him/herself brings in the vehicle to a Transport Branch Office and receives inspection at the National Agency of Vehicle Inspection's inspection station.
The user is responsible for carrying out checks and maintenance before or after the inspection.

Agent "Sha-ken" (Renewal Inspection applied for by an agent of user)

An agent brings the vehicle to an inspection station and receives inspection instead of the user.
The user is responsible for carrying out checks and maintenance before or after the inspection.

Certified Maintenance Garages

A certified maintenance garage refers to a maintenance workshop that can dismantle engines and breaks as a part of its business services. Unlike a designated maintenance garage, however, a certified maintenance garage cannot carry out inspections on behalf of the government. Thus, when a maintenance check is received at a certified maintenance garage, the user must still bring in his/her vehicle to the National Agency of Vehicle Inspection's inspection station for an inspection.

Designated Maintenance Garages

A designated maintenance garage refers to a private inspection station that has inspection machines and can carry out vehicle inspections on behalf of the government. If a vehicle receives inspection at a designated maintenance garage and is issued a Safety Regulations Conformity Certificate, the user may omit the process of bringing in his/her vehicle to our inspection station.
